Our Lodge
Founded in 1950 by a group of students and staff from the University of Southampton, the Southampton University Lodge, No. 7022, is open to applications from students and staff of the university as well as local Southampton residents.
Our lodge has a rich mixture of different professions, religions and backgrounds resulting in a warm and welcoming atmosphere that is reflective of both the University of Southampton and freemasonry culminating in our famously friendly festive boards on which we pride ourselves.
We are a member of the United Grand Lodge of England Universities Scheme which puts us in a network of other university lodges around the country as such we encourage members of other university lodges to visit our lodge.
Our association with the University Scheme also allows us to accept applications from non-masons who are 18 years of age instead of the traditional 21 years required by most lodges. Applications to our lodge, like most other university lodges, are being made in ever increasing numbers; it is not uncommon to see triple or quadruple initiations.
We are also a receptor lodge for university graduates who are moving to the Southampton area from other parts of the country so that they may continue to pursue their interest in the craft.
If wishing to visit or apply to join please contact the lodge membership officer at sotonuniversitylodge@gmail.com.
